This offer is sure to vex all the Obama campaigners who think they alone are on the cutting edge of voter outreach.
"While I won't be breaking any news today, I wanted to let you know how to be the first to get the VP scoop with our new Mitt's VP app," says Beth Meyers, the senior adviser to Mitt Romney who has led the search for his running mate these many weeks.
Interesting.

Why isn’t Mitt Romney talking more about his Olympic feat?
Mitt Romney is still waiting for his gold medal from the American public.
If you look across Romney’s public and private sector record, his time as head of the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City stands out as what should be his greatest and most politically advantageous achievement.
Unlike his tenure at Bain Capital and as governor of Massachusetts, there’s very little Democrats can say that will undermine or pick apart Romney’s Olympics record. It’s also a high profile example of Romney’s business acumen that actually has a real-world connection to most peoples’s lives.
And, as luck would have it, the Summer Olympics in London is being held just a few months before the U.S. presidential election — a terrific opportunity for Romney to take a victory lap, right?
Strange how he doesn't talk about it.

Romney VP Vetting Chief Mentions McDonnell

The woman in charge of the secret search for a running mate for Mitt Romney made rare public comments on the vetting process itself on Tuesday.
In praising the "deep bench" of Republican vice presidential potentials, Beth Myers even mentioned one name that's sure to inflame the guessing game.
That namae mentioned was Virginia governor Bob McDonnell, which I am not sure would be the best choice.

Romney Leads By 5% Nationally
Mitt Romney has opened up a 5-point lead over President Obama nationally, according to the latest daily tracking survey from conservative polling outlet Rasmussen.
300X250
Looks like Obama's gaffe is working against him.
Romney leads 49 to 44 percent, according to the poll. That could be an outlier – according to the Real Clear Politics average of polls, Obama leads by 1 point nationally, while the Gallup daily tracking survey shows the two candidates tied at 46.
“As with any such change in the race, it remains to be seen whether it marks a lasting shift or is merely statistical noise,” Rasmussen wrote.
The Rasmussen poll shows Romney’s national lead similar to his lead over Obama on who is better equipped to handle the economy. Romney leads Obama 49 to 43 percent on that question.
Team Romney has made Obama’s "you didn't build that" remark central to its campaign message, claiming it reveals the president relies too heavily on government intervention, rather than allowing the free market to turn the economy around.

Jeb Bush lobbies Romney to pick Marco Rubio for VP spot
Jeb Bush has
weighed in on the debate over Mitt
Romney's running mate, urging the presumptive Republican presidential
nominee to choose Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Romney said last month that Rubio "is being thoroughly vetted" as a possible vice presidential choice.
Rubio has said repeatedly that he does not expect to make the ticket.
Yet he would be a good choice.
The former Florida governor and longtime supporter
of Rubio told the Associated Press that he personally lobbied on Rubio's behalf
in a recent conversation with Romney. Bush
said Romney did not indicate who he would choose.
Rubio, a freshman senator who was elected in 2010,
is a rising star in the Republican
Party. He is also a favorite of the tea party
movement.

WSJ/NBC Poll: Romney Leads on the Economy, Trails Elsewhere

Republican Mitt Romney, who has focused almost his entire campaign on his ability to turn around the economy, continues to enjoy an advantage with voters on that key subject, even as he trails in other categories, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
In the survey of registered voters, 43% said Mr. Romney would provide better ideas on how to improve the economy compared with 36% who said President Barack Obama would do so.
The full survey will be released at 6:30 p.m. on WSJ.com.
But by virtually every other metric, registered voters appear to favor the president.
-Looking out for the middle class? Mr. Obama (49% to 33%)
-Being knowledgeable and experienced enough to handle the presidency? Mr. Obama (48% to 32%)
-Being a good commander in chief? Mr. Obama leads by 10 points.
That last number comes as Mr. Romney is set to launch a weeklong international trip to England, Poland and Israel in an attempt to buttress his foreign policy credentials. On Tuesday afternoon, he is scheduled to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars conference in Reno, Nev.
Goes to show you people need to be better informed.

Romney Preferred to Handle Economy Over Obama In Poll

Despite concerted Democratic attacks on his business record, Republican challenger Mitt Romney scores a significant advantage over President Obama when it comes to managing the economy, reducing the federal budget deficit and creating jobs, a national USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.
By more than 2-1, 63%-29%, those surveyed say Romney's background in business, including his tenure at the private equity firm Bain Capital, would cause him to make good decisions, not bad ones, in dealing with the nation's economic problems over the next four years.
The findings raise questions about Obama's strategy of targeting Bain's record in outsourcing jobs and hammering Romney for refusing to commit to releasing more than two years of his tax returns. Instead, Americans seem focused on the economy, where disappointment with the fragile recovery and the 8.2% unemployment rate are costing the president.
At least he has more experience.

Romney's Foreign Policy
Mitt Romney is going overseas in a few days. On Tuesday he will be speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which, as the timing would have it, allows him to bash the president on American soil and then go overseas. What should he say?
Maybe he should talk about an end of wars of aggression and a return to the Constitution.

Romney makes key foreign trip, to visit with leaders from England, Israel and Poland

The GOP presidential candidate will attend formal meetings with leaders and former leaders of those countries and talk with residents, but his focus will be on listening and learning, campaign advisers told Fox News earlier this week during a conference call with reporters.
However, Romney is not expected to make any foreign policy announcements, the advisers said.
The advisers frequently used the term "locking arms with allies" to describe the trip for Romney, who as a former Massachusetts governor and founder of the Bain Capital private equity firm has limited experience in international politics.
Romney, who led the United State’s efforts to host the 2002 Winter Olympics, is expected while in England to attending Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
It should be interesting.

Romney finds his campaign’s rationale
Mitt Romney has been on a roll since he took on President Obama for his “you didn’t build that” speech.
The remarks which followed that section of the speech showed that Romney is using the opening given to him to carve out a rationale for his campaign. He was clearly animated as he tore into the president:
While Obama has been intent on painting Romney as a 21st century robber baron, Romney is aligning Obama’s philosophy with the mentality of failed Western European social democracies, which, wouldn’t you know, are teetering on the brink of collapse. The message is one Romney can stick with during the remainder of the campaign because it serves multiple purposes.
What do you think?

Mitt Romney to hit President Obama on small business treatment during Roxbury stop
Mitt Romney planned to criticize President Obama over his handling of small business development during a visit to a Roxbury small business and after a stop earlier today at his North End campaign headquarters.
A campaign official told the Globe that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee would focus on Obama’s comment last week that “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that,” as well as the fact that his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness - an advisory group of business and labor leaders - has not met in six months.
Romney first toured Middlesex Truck & Coach on Gerard Street in Roxbury before his speech.
Tweets from the scene showed a small group of protestors outside, which a company official lamented.
Well, it's about time.

Romney goes on offense over jobs remark after weathering criticism on taxes, Bain
The Republican presidential candidate took to the stump Tuesday with a crowd-rallying vigor, and is unlikely to let up when he holds a town hall meeting Wednesday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The spark, for Romney, was Obama's now-famous comment Friday in which he suggested businesses owe their success to government investment. While Romney has bounced among various themes in recent weeks, his speech to a Pennsylvania crowd Tuesday zeroed in on that quote as illustrating a singular difference between his attitude toward the economy and Obama's.
Romney described the comments as "stunning" and revealing" and argued they played into a larger narrative of Obama "changing the nature of America," calling his policies "extraordinarily foreign."
"In the past, people of both parties understood that encouraging achievement, encouraging success, encouraging people to lift themselves as high as they can, encouraging entrepreneur celebrating success instead of attacking it and denigrating makes America strong," he said.
At least he is on the attack now.

Inside Romney’s Search for a Vice President
Aides to Mitt Romney have pored over video footage of potential running mates, studying hundreds of hours of Sunday show appearances, campaign debates and stump speeches for insight into how they handle unwelcome inquiries, even hecklers.
In conversations with donors, supporters and even campaign staff members, a likely shortlist has emerged — Tim Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota, and Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, as the two front-runners, and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin as the dark-horse choices. Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state, is considered a less likely possibility, though Mr. Romney’s wife, Ann, is said to have expressed admiration for her.
Behind the scenes, though, there has been plenty of unofficial lobbying, even at this late date. Senator Rubio, of Florida has emerged as a favorite of many donors, who have recommended him to the campaign as an exciting, surprise pick, but he is now considered a long-shot. And while Mr. McConnell has pushed for Mr. Rubio, he has also discussed the merits of all the various contenders from the Senate, including Mr. Portman and Senator John Thune of South Dakota. (Mr. Rove declined to comment on why he likes Mr. Rubio.)
Who do you think it will be?

In Pawlenty, Romney Campaign May Find Down-to-Earth Appeal

The country received only an abbreviated introduction to Mr. Pawlenty, 51, a former two-term governor of Minnesota, whose working-class roots, experience outside Washington and evangelical faith have formed the core of his appeal to a broad spectrum of Republicans.
While Mr. Romney has kept more distance from the rest of his primary challengers, he has embraced Mr. Pawlenty, seeking his advice about running against President Obama and sending him to Republican events on his behalf. They began forging a closer relationship last year on a visit to the Romney family’s lakeside home in New Hampshire, aides said, and during debates this year when Mr. Pawlenty often traveled with the Romney campaign after dropping out of the race himself.
He has emerged as one of the most energetic cheerleaders and forceful defenders of Mr. Romney, firing back against Republican skeptics and Democratic critics alike. All but forgotten are the days when Mr. Pawlenty coined the troublemaking term “Obamneycare,” suggesting that few differences existed between the health care plans of Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama.
I think he is better off with Rubio, but that is just me.

Obama Will Not Apoligize
Mitt Romney's campaign said Sunday that President Barack Obama is willing to say anything to win a second term and should say he's sorry for attacks on the Republican's successful career at a private equity firm. "No, we will not apologize," the president responded, adding that if Romney wants credit for his business leadership, he also needs to take responsibility.
Is Romney even going to retaliate??

ROMNEY SAYS OBAMA OWES HIM APOLOGY FOR BAIN COMMENTS, BUT WHY DOESN'T HE ATTACK HIM FOR ANYTHING THAT MATTERS?

President Obama should apologize for his campaign's suggestion that Mitt Romney is either a criminal or a liar, the presumptive GOP nominee told CBS News' Jan Crawford in an interview Friday.
The president "ought to apologize for what he's doing," Romney told Crawford. The former Massachusetts governor sat down with all five networks one day after Mr. Obama's deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter posed two damning outcomes for the former Massachusetts governor from Thursday's Boston Globe story, which alleged that Romney continued to head the private equity firm Bain Capital three years after he claimed to have left.
Well, that's great and all, but why the heck doesn't Romney attack Obama for going to war with Libya without Congress? For breaking every promise he made? For unconstitutional drone attacks? For NDAA? For executive orders consolidating more control?
Oh yea, that's right, because they both work for the same people. Lovely.

ROMNEY NARROWS VP CHOICES; CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER
Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.
And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!
The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.
MORE
It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.
Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.
Are these people serious? This is the woman who STILL defends going into Iraq!!!

Romney Calls Obama Dishonest
A new television advertisement from the campaign of presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney attacks President Barack Obama's campaign for spreading lies and dishonest attacks.
If anyone has engaged in outsourcing jobs, it would have to be Obama.

Romney May Pick Running Mate Soon
Mitt Romney said on Tuesday he is considering naming his choice to serve as vice presidential running mate earlier than usual to better compete with President Barack Obama. My guess is it is going to be Marco Rubio. As they work from a short list of leading Republicans, Romney and his advisers say they are weighing whether he should announce his choice some weeks earlier than the traditional time of around the Republican National Convention, which is to be held in Tampa in late August.

Mitt Romney's Campaign Finances Pull Way Ahead

Obama is not happy with his latest fundraising reports. While raising 71 million in June, an impressive number, Romney raised 35 million more. I guess all those wedding gift donations didn't pan out for Obama, huh?
Romney is certainly gaining traction, and while Romney has quite a bit of problems, I think people just want to see Obama out of office.

Democrats Defend Obama on Economy While Attacking Romney
Democratic leaders hit the TV airwaves Sunday to defend President Obama's economic recovery efforts and to attack Mitt Romney’s public- and private-sector record, while also trying to divert the focus to the Republican challenger’s personal finances
Honestly, these attacks are just ridiculous. It is so sad how they think the average American is that uninformed.

Obama Challenges Romney on China Trade
President Barack Obama is challenging Mitt Romney's promises to crack down on China's trading practices, saying in an ad released Saturday that the Republican candidate profited by allowing China to strip away U.S. jobs. Keep in mind Obama's policies have shipped a tremendous amount of jobs overseas.
The ad represents the latest attempt by Obama's team to discredit Romney's argument that his private sector experience makes him more qualified than the president to steer the economy during high unemployment. Obama's campaign has repeatedly cited a recent Washington Post story outlining how several businesses backed by Romney's former firm, Bain Capital, transferred jobs to lower-wage countries such as China and India.

Ron Paul's New Cause Is Internet Freedom!

With bills like SOPA and PIPA being shoved at the American people, who is going to stand up for internet freedom? The answer to that question is Ron Paul! Kentucky senator Rand and his father Ron Paul, who has not yet formally conceded the Republican presidential nomination, will throw their weight behind a new online manifesto set to be released today by the Paul-founded Campaign for Liberty. The manifesto, obtained yesterday by BuzzFeed, is titled "The Technology Revolution" and lays out an argument — in doomsday tones —for keeping the government entirely out of regulating anything online, and for leaving the private sector to shape the new online space.
The manifesto quotes Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises and attacks not just the federal government, but also progressive groups that have called for similar measures to keep the Internet largely unregulated: "Today, the road to tyranny is being paved by a collectivist-Industrial complex -- a dangerous brew of wealthy, international NGO's, progressive do-gooders, corporate cronies and sympathetic political elites."

Obama claims Romney is Outsourcer of Jobs

In a silly state of affairs, Obama claims Romney is an outsourcer of jobs. Last time I checked, Obama's administration has paid companies to ship their organizations overseas, and presided over some of the highest business taxes ever (for some companies, particularly small business).
Last week brought a pair of polls giving Obama an edge in both Ohio and Pennsylvania: 47 percent to 38 percent in Ohio, and 45 percent to 39 percent in Pennsylvania, according the Quinnipiac Poll. The Romney campaign is not ceding ground, however, having dispatched Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) to make appearances along Obama’s bus route in an effort to “bracket” the president’s message.

Midwest Ranchers and Politicians Protest Drones

Does the EPA have the right to incorporate drones into its surveillance of midwest farmers and ranchers? The Environmental Protection Agency flies over power plants and other facilities nationwide to identify potential air, water and land pollution. It began using aerial surveillance in the Midwest in 2010 to check farms for violations of federal clean water regulations.
For a lot of people, it is certainly reminiscent of Big Brother invading privacy, not to mention it is more disconcerting with drones. Leave the ranchers alone!

In 15 States, Romney leads
In 15 key states, Romney remains ahead, while in national polls it is Obama. In the 15 states CNN calls its battleground states — Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin — Romney leads Obama, 51 percent to 43 percent. With Obama's campaign finance dilemmas, it should make for an interesting election.

Obama Appears To Be Lagging In The Campaign

It appears that Obama is most definitely lagging in the campaign financially. In a conference call from a special campaign phone on Air Force One, Obama complained about the super PAC donations going to Mitt Romney, which are quite significant. He even said that if the trend continued, he would be the first president in modern history to be outspent by a challenger!
It looks like Obama has a lot of problems on his hands. First, there is the issue of the economy, as well as other problems. Now, however, he is even being outspent... drastically!

Is the heatwave affective Obama's campaign fundraising?
President Obama’s campaign has issues urgent pleas, and the latest appears to capitalize on the record heat sweeping through the mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
“Keep cool while you’re canvassing this summer,” the Obama campaign tweeted. The message contained a link to a $30 Obama tank top. “Our Vote Obama Tank Top is a stylish and fun way to show your support,” the campaign says.
The campaign was pushing the tank tops as record heat combined with a loss of power following storms to create a humanitarian emergency in several states.
Obama held a call with the governors of Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia “to provide necessary support to state and local officials in impacted areas as they respond to these events, especially considering the power outages and the high temperatures many of the impacted areas are currently experiencing,” the White House said on Saturday.
At least this is not as pathetic as asking people who are getting married to donate to him instead of buy gifts. As far as FEMA goes helping people, we need only remember the Superdome in LA.
